What to Expect on Your Tour

    TOUR SNAPSHOT

There’s nowhere more exciting in the British food scene right now than Southwark. Young chefs and shop owners are going back to their roots in this borough that’s always had food at its heart—and we’re going with them! On this tour we’ll show you where and how Londoners actually eat, and as we go, you’ll get to be a part of the community in a way you couldn’t on your own.

    STOP-BY-STOP

Kick off your journey to the heart of London’s oldest borough with a proper British breakfast in a restaurant that is also a social enterprise.

Next, we’re off to the area around the iconic Borough Market to celebrate London’s love story with street food. At these two stops, we’ll try London’s oldest street food as well as a more recent arrival on the scene, both of which speak to our longstanding history of immigration.

No trip to London would be complete without a visit to the pub, so we’ll make sure you do it right. We’re heading to none other than London’s oldest surviving galleried pub, where Shakespeare once put on a performance! While here, we’ll try the one dish you can’t miss: fish and chips accompanied with traditional English ale.

Of course, any proper British meal ends with pudding, so our last stop of the day is dessert! We’ll visit an eatery dedicated to using only the best of local produce where you’ll enjoy one of London’s most famous sticky toffee puddings. Paired with an after-dinner drink that has surprising British connections, it’s the perfect match.

By the end of the tour, you’ll have seen past the stereotypes and experienced the best of British cuisine in the borough that no food lover should miss.

And as with all Devour London tours, you’ll receive our Devouring London guide. Packed with all our favorite places to eat and drink in the city, put down your guidebook and get ready to experience London like a local!
